CONNECTING nepali women globally
Passing the tuki, heart to heart, chori to chori.
Passing the tuki, heart to heart, chori to chori.
To reach the little girl in a corner of Nepal, the one who’s only known a world where women cook, clean, and marry young -and show her another way. To connect her with a woman beyond borders who can spark a new dream in her heart: that she, too, can be a scientist, an engineer, a changemaker — anything she dares to imagine.
At छोरी Beyond Borders, we create a bridge of hope and strength — connecting accomplished Nepali women with young girls who are dreaming big but need guidance. We believe every Chori deserves a mentor to walk beside her, offering wisdom, encouragement, and a hand to hold as she steps into her future.
Through meaningful, one-on-one virtual mentorship, we bring together stories, experiences, and dreams. Our mentors listen, support, and empower Choris (ages 18-up) as they navigate career choices and life’s challenges — inspiring them to believe in themselves and their limitless potential.
Every story is a testament to courage, growth, and the power of connection. See how Choris across the world are transforming their lives — one mentorship at a time.
I didn’t create छोरी Beyond Borders because I had a perfect journey. I created it because I had the most imperfect one. When I moved to the U.S. for my undergraduate studies, I came with ambition and potential. But once I got here, it hit me: having potential means very little when you don’t have someone to guide you. No one to say, “You’re not lost. You just need direction.”
I thought I knew a lot. But really, I was making big decisions out of confusion, not clarity. And those decisions added up. I had to work harder than most people around me just to keep my head above water. There were so many moments I wished I could go back and sit beside the version of me from just a couple of years ago, not to fix everything - but simply to say, “There’s a way forward.”
I finished my undergraduate degree in Economics from Purdue University in 2024, but even now, I’m still in the middle of figuring out who I am and what I want to build - for myself, and for others.
And even with all the uncertainty, one thing has always been clear to me: the moment I found even a little bit of stability, I would give back. Because I’ve always believed - when you receive, you give. When you learn, you teach.
And that led me to an even deeper realization. I had a support system. My parents didn’t always know how to guide me - I'm the first in my family to graduate, but they believed in me. I grew up in a place with decent schools, access to the internet, chances to at least try.
But what about the girls who don’t?
The ones growing up in remote corners of Nepal, who’ve never seen someone like them become a doctor, an engineer, a lawyer, or a changemaker? What about the ones who have no map, no mirror, no mentor?
This is for them.
This is for girls like me, and girls like you.
This is for the younger you.
For 18-year-olds who are just starting to wonder.
For 25-year-olds who are still figuring things out.
For the girls abroad, the girls in Nepal, the ones stuck in between.
For anyone who’s ever felt capable of more but didn’t know how to begin.
And for the ones already lighting the tuki for others.
That’s what छोरी Beyond Borders is.
Just another छोरी,
Krishma Subedi
